Potato Leek Soup with Bacon…

1/2 Lb bacon

3 Large leeks

3 ribs celery

4 medium potatoes

6 small salad potatoes

2 quarts of chicken or vegetable stock

1/2 C sour cream

2 tsp chili powder

Salt and white pepper to taste

In a 6 quart stock pot render the bacon.  While the bacon is rendering, wash and slice  the leeks.  When the bacon is fully rendered and starting to crisp up, remove it from the pot and drain.  Add the leeks to the the bacon fat and sweat  for 5 minutes.  Dice the celery and add to the pot and let sweat while you peel and dice the larger potatoes.  Once cut up, throw them into the pot and give the whole mess a stir.  Season with a bit of salt and chili powder.  Now add the stock and bring to a boil.  Turn down to a simmer and let simmer until the potatoes are very tender.

While the soup is simmering, quarter the small salad potatoes.  In a small skillet, heat some oil and add the potato quarters.  Brown the potatoes until they’re tender and set aside.

We’re almost there.  Just one more step before we’re ready to eat.

When the potatoes in the soup are soft and tender, put the soup in a blender in batches.  Blend until smooth and pour into another pot.  Continue until you’re on the last blender full.  To this one, add the sour cream and blend until smooth.  Add to the rest of the soup and bring back up to temperature.

We’re ready to plate now.  Add a few of the potato quarters to a bowl.  Ladle in the soup.  Garnish with some of the bacon and maybe some green onion.

Thank’s for the visit. As for hints for a rookie blogger, write about what you’re passionate about, but make it personal not a sales pitch. Also write in you’re own voice instead of posting a bunch of links to other people’s writing.

I think that what you said made a lot of sense. But, what about this? what if you were to write a awesome post title? I ain’t suggesting your content is not solid., however what if you added a headline that grabbed people’s attention? I mean Potato Leek Soup with Bacon… Fine Art Food is kinda vanilla. You could look at Yahoo’s front page and watch how they create news headlines to grab viewers to open the links. You might try adding a video or a picture or two to grab readers interested about what you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it could bring your website a little bit more interesting.

    • March 27, 2012 at 7:30 pm

I appreciate your comments. But Potato Leek Soup with Bacon is a recipe. Not really an article. But how’s this for a headline, Topless Mila Kunis Potato Leek Soup with Bacon. As for pictures, I have a section for those. I’m a portrait and travel photographer, and my aim is to instill that vibe into my food photography, or as I like to call it my eatable portraiture. And yes, I do like to make it eatable unlike much of the commercial food photography. Being able to take it from the cooler or oven to the studio then to the table appeals to the chef in me. As for video, my public relations trained wife has banned me from doing any more until I get a more appropriate background and a better wardrobe.

Oh and I’m kidding about the Mila Kunis remark. I don’t have topless pictures of her. The guy who hacked her cell phone didn’t even find any there which only makes her sexier to me.
